In the previous episode, we asked the question, “What is wrong with me?” The purpose was to conduct a self-audit, ask important questions, and identify the source of our brokenness. In this episode, we aim to explore the various types of brokenness.
Today, we’ll explore the types of brokenness—where it comes from, and how to address it. There are three fundamental types:
Hereditary or Generational Brokenness: This type is passed down through family bloodlines and includes issues like anger, alcoholism, addictions, and consistent broken character traits from one generation to another.
Social or Societal Brokenness: Living in a fallen world means societal values have eroded, leading to moral standards breaking down. Society becomes a breeding ground for various forms of wickedness and brokenness, such as crime, addiction, and promiscuity.
Personal Brokenness: This category is split into two parts. The first involves things that happen to an individual—trauma, abuse, rejection—and the second part results from bad decisions made by the individual, like substance abuse or deviating from a righteous path.
The key takeaway in this episode is that while brokenness may not be your fault, achieving wholeness is your responsibility.
