When we came into 2018, one of the BIG words on my radar was REST.  I committed to God to live in REST regardless of what life might throw at me.  I did well until I received news last week that something I have made a considerable investment in might go south.  While I didn’t freak all out, my reaction made me realise that to some extent, where this particular investment was concerned, I was not RESTING. 

As I kept thinking on and meditating on what I should do next, my thoughts turned to the Easter weekend, and I imagined that that day when Jesus was nailed to the cross could not have been an easy day for His followers.  Like me, they had invested their time and life to follow someone they saw as their Saviour only to watch Him nailed to the cross with no respite.  They must have felt like they wasted their time but more importantly, they must have felt a tremendous lack of HOPE.

You see, REST takes faith and belief, not in the plan or the vision but in the One who started us on the journey.  REST takes faith, to see with the God kind of faith, to stand with the understanding that even on that Good Friday when Jesus went up on the cross, regardless of the fact that His followers didn’t have a precedent upon which to base their belief in His promise to rise on the third day, God knew and believed for them.

REST gives us the opportunity to dream and execute impossible things simply because God has commanded us to.  REST is the capacity to push to a logical conclusion what we don’t fully understand  upon Heaven’s say so.  REST takes a labouring to enter and if it therefore be inactivity, why then do we labour.  REST is how we trust God to open the door for Him to move in and be GOD.
