NOW YOU’RE IN: HOW TO MAINTAIN SUCCESS

You’ve worked hard to achieve that goal- the desired weight, the new job you’ve been praying and striving for, the doctor has confirmed that you are pregnant, that promotion with the juicy pay package is now yours, that project has finally been completed- You have finally succeeded at accomplishing that desired goal and you are excited. Of course, you should be excited. You should savor this great moment. Nothing is as fulfilling as walking through the doors of opportunity open to you. Now you’re in the room; you have a seat at the table… so, what’s next?

I don’t mean to “pour sand in your garri”, as my fellow Nigerians commonly say. I’m not against celebrating success, in fact, I encourage it. We shouldn’t be so caught up in winning that we do not celebrate little or great victories. But the truth is life must go on. We have to learn to move on… even from success. They say that your greatest opposition is your last success and I quite agree with that. This is because it is so easy to relax and become complacent after accomplishing a goal. We feel “we have arrived” and so there’s no need to keep working. This is a dangerous place to be because one can easily slide back into the previous conditions, or even worse.

In order to ensure continuous victory and improvement, we must master the art of surviving our success. Rather than having our zeal get quenched because we succeeded, we must convert that energy to spur us on to do more. Picture this: succeeding at your current goal is just like conceiving a child. It wouldn’t make sense to just be passive and complacent after this, right? There’s still more to be done. So, today I’d like to remind you that there is more to achieve.

You can and should take progressive steps to build on your success and achievements. Here are some tips; just like a woman who succeeds at conceiving, to maintain your success you’d need to:
1. Feed on the right things
Your mind is the powerhouse of your entire life. It controls everything you do. You must feed it with constructive information that would produce great results. You cannot feed your mind with junk negativity and expect different results. Feed your mind right.

2. Prepare for greater achievements
Sometimes, we do not go beyond our current levels because we simply have not equipped ourselves to handle greater responsibilities. The achievements we seek will require greater capacity from us. If we want to do more, we must become more by preparing.

3. Communicate regularly with your “doctor”
I believe that everyone needs a mentor/coach/leader; someone in their field that helps guide them aright and ensures they stay on the right track, just like a doctor is to a pregnant woman. You cannot do life on your own; it is always better to travel with someone who is better experienced than you are.

4. Get excited and be expectant
This is pumps and restores energy to us as we work towards our goals… the excitement that just in a bit, you’d have your bundle of joy in your hands. Expect to succeed. Get excited about your life.
Till next week,

Embrace your Super Power
