“Your greatest pain comes from the area of your neglected gifts.” There’s no gift that is irrelevant or so small that it cannot make a difference in the world. No, there is none! Every gift we are endowed with is valuable and potent enough to make the life of the people around us better when we use it. But a dormant/undiscovered gift is like a seed on a shelf… filled with so much potential on the inside but hard and unproductive on the outside. The only thing such a seed is good for is the short term pleasure of eating.

A gift is an innate ability wrapped up with the potential to become something so grand and influential that it can cause great change in the lives of others. The key to ensuring these gifts release their potential is that they must be discovered, developed and deployed to serve others. But the challenge comes when gifts are neglected.

Why would such awesomeness be neglected, you ask? Well, one major reason is the issue of perspective. If a gift is not seen as such, then there is no way value will be placed on it and in turn, efforts will not be made to develop and deploy it. The truth is, gifts are not seen as the treasure they are because of a faulty sense of self worth. When we do not place value on ourselves, we will not place value on anything that comes from us. So this must be checked, you must change your perspective of yourself and know that within you lies gifts that the world needs.

Lots of people neglect their gifts simply because they have been told over and over again that those gifts don’t matter or worst still, that their lives don’t matter. Some do so because, compared to others, their gifts seem unimportant but how can we make other human beings, as frail as we are, the standard for value and life? The fact that your gift does not take you to the spotlight doesn’t mean it is invaluable. In fact, those in the spotlight are in dire need of people who would work in the background.

Gifts are like seeds, they must be used in order for them to be unraveled and release what they contain. Even the “tiniest” of gifts has great potential to produce much. So, do not neglect any gift. The world needs them. Save yourself from that unnecessary pain and commit to using your gift to serve mankind.
