On this week’s show, we are looking at Proverbs 6:1-5 which addresses the wisdom for issuing or signing and standing as sureties for acquaintances. Although this scriptural conversation may sound controversial, the focus is not to ask you to stop helping people but to show you what wisdom says when it comes to determining and defining what help you might be asked to render.
This podcast seeks to stir your wheel of help and show you the important factors that should guide your decisions to either receive help or give it. You will learn about:
- Defining your relationships
- Clarity on what you may be co-signing/getting yourself into when it comes to standing as a surety
- Understanding graduated relationships
- A child Of God vs A Christian
- How not to ensnare yourself
Beyond standing as surety for people, it is all the more important to carefully consider standing as character witnesses to people who have no character. As a communicator, this can also play out in your use of other people’s stories. I say that if you have not verified a person’s story for your work, then don’t use it so it does not come back to bite when their cracks begins to show.
